Funeral Luncheon Ministry

The St. Pat’s Funeral Luncheon Committee is a Ministry offered by our parish.  It is a very special service provided for parish families in their time of need following the death of their loved one.  Through the generosity of faithful volunteers within our parish, we are able to provide a luncheon and a time of fellowship and comfort for the grieving family following the funeral Mass.

In an effort to streamline the process of coordinating and finding volunteers, we are launching a new method of sign up.  The Funeral Luncheon Committee will be using Perfect Potluck so parishioners can sign up to make a salad, dessert, or a side dish.  There will still be an option to be called by phone (as there has been for years).

Notifications will be sent to parish members via email from Mary Cagle (marycagle91@gmail.com).  If you do not wish to receive further notifications, there is an “unsubscribe” option at the bottom of the email.  Please keep in mind that no contribution is too small.  Even if you can only contribute occasionally, your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and patience as we implement this new form of communication.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the parish office.

Many hands make light work.

Funeral Luncheons are a wonderful way of showing support, love, and solidarity with a bereaved family. Sharing food – especially a homemade meal will often be remembered long after the flowers have faded. By making a dish or assisting with a luncheon, you can help to provide a sense of comfort and continuity during for a grieving parish family during this difficult time.

Please contact the parish office if you would like to help out. There are several ways you can help: 1.) Make a food item for the luncheon (to serve 10 people) 2.) Help serve and clean up after a luncheon 3.) Be in charge of a luncheon

Our Funeral Luncheon Ministry will place an order and pick up the meat, cheese and bread for the luncheon. You will be asked to make a salad, dessert, or a side dish.

Normally, funeral luncheons are held in the school gymnasium, and dishes can usually be dropped off at the school cafeteria beginning at 7am the day of the funeral.

When possible, please use a disposable tin pan or disposable container so the Funeral Committee will not need to wash your container after the meal is over. If this is not an option, your clean dish will be in the vestibule at church the weekend after the funeral luncheon.

An email sign up will be generated when the luncheon is scheduled. You can get on this Perfect Potluck email list by contacting Mary Cagle at marycagle91@gmail.com There is also a call list for those who do not prefer to be contacted via email. Please contact the parish office at 309-444-3524 to get on this list.
